the Bienal

I was lucky enough to visit the 31st Bienal in São Paulo and see quite a bit of inspiring work from artists around the world.

About the Bienal

From their site: The Fundação Bienal de São Paulo is located in the Ibirapuera Park, in Sao Paulo, in a pavilion designed by Oscar Niemeyer, greatly emblematic of Brazilian Modernist architecture. It is one of the most influential international institutions promoting Contemporary art and its impact in visual arts in Brazil is wholly recognized. From its first edition, in 1951, there have been 31 editions with the participation of approximately 160 countries, 67,000 works of art, 14,000 artists and 8 million visitors.

The Creative Process

I’ve always been really fascinating by the process by which art and design is created. The official Bienal blog has an interesting post with images of the artists creating in the actual building this year. If the creative process interests you, this is a cool behind the scenes view of some of the artists in action.
